Privacy Policy

For the original Work Log app for Android

Which app this policy covers

This policy covers the original Work Log app for Android, first released in 2013, and its optional Work Log Pro unlock app (shown on your phone as “Work Log Key”).
It does not cover Work Log – Shift Tracker, which is a different app with accounts, cloud backup, and optional location features. That app has its own policy at Privacy Policy for Work Log – Shift Tracker.

The short version

  • Your shift data stays on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud backup or sync. We never receive your shifts, jobs, wages, or notes.
  • The app does not request location. It has no location permission of any kind.
  • The free version shows ads, which use your device's advertising identifier.
  • We collect anonymous usage and crash data to find bugs and see which features are used.
  • Work Log Pro collects nothing at all — it requests no permissions and has no internet access.

Your Shift Data Stays on Your Device

Everything you enter — shifts, jobs, wages, overtime rules, breaks, notes, and settings — is stored in a database on your device. The app has no account system and does not upload this information anywhere. We cannot see it.
When you use Backup Database, or export a PDF or spreadsheet, the app creates a file on your device and hands it to whichever app you choose to share it with, such as your email client. That transfer is initiated by you and goes wherever you send it — it does not pass through us.

Advertising

The free version of the app displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partner networks may use your device's Advertising ID to select and measure ads. You can reset that identifier, or opt out of personalised advertising, in your device settings under Google → Ads.
If you are in a region that requires it, the app shows a consent form before serving personalised ads, and your choice is recorded. You can change it later from the app's settings.
AdMob may fill an ad request using one of the following partner networks. When it does, that network receives the ad request and your advertising identifier:

Usage and Crash Reporting

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to record anonymous usage events — for example, that a shift was saved or a settings screen was opened — so we can see which features people actually use. These events do not include your shift data, wages, or notes.
The app also uses Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, it sends a report containing device model, operating system version, and where in the code the crash happened, so the bug can be fixed.

Permissions the App Uses

  • Internet and network state — to load ads and send anonymous usage and crash reports.
  • Advertising ID — used by AdMob as described above.
  • Notifications — to show shift reminders and the ongoing notification while you are clocked in.
  • Run a foreground service and keep the device awake — so shift timing stays accurate while a shift is running.
The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or access to your accounts.

Work Log Pro (the unlock app)

Work Log Pro is a small companion app whose only job is to tell the main app that you have paid. It requests no permissions, has no internet access, shows no ads, and collects and transmits no information of any kind. Your purchase itself is handled entirely by Google Play under Google's privacy policy; we never see your payment details.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because your shift data never leaves your device, there is no account for us to delete. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, removes it. Any backup files you created and shared yourself remain wherever you sent them.
Anonymous usage and crash data is retained by Google on our behalf under their standard retention periods. If you have a question about it, contact us at ARProductionsDev@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take the necessary action.

Links to Other Sites

The app contains links to this website and to the Google Play Store, and advertisements link to third-party sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Security

Your shift data is stored on your device and is protected by your device's own security. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with it, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, so you are advised to review it periodically.
This policy is effective as of 2026-08-10.
