Work Log – Dashboard is a web-based dashboard that lets employers provide Premium access to the Work Log – Shift Tracker app for their employees, and organize, view, edit, and export shift data across multiple linked employees. It also lets any Work Log – Shift Tracker user with Premium access sign in to view and edit their own shift history and export it as a PDF or spreadsheet.
Work Log - Dashboard for individuals?
Work Log – Dashboard lets any Work Log – Shift Tracker user with Premium access sign in to view, edit, and export their own shift history as a PDF or spreadsheet. An individual may also subscribe to the Starter Employer plan if they wish to have access to the Auto-Reporting feature.
Work Log vs Work Log - Shift Tracker?
The original Work Log and Work Log – Shift Tracker are two separate apps.
The original Work Log was created for Android in 2013. It remains available and is not being discontinued. Its optional Work Log Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase through a separate Android app, and both the original Work Log and Work Log Pro must remain installed for the Pro features to stay unlocked.
Work Log – Shift Tracker is the newer Android and iOS app. It was rebuilt with modern technology and adds features such as automatic cloud backup and synchronization, access from the Work Log Dashboard, custom wages per shift, and improved support for future features. Its upgrade is a separate subscription, billed monthly or yearly, and appears inside the app as "Work Log Pro – Monthly" or "Work Log Pro – Yearly."
Even though both upgrades share the "Work Log Pro" name, they are separate purchases for separate apps. Buying Work Log Pro in the original app does not unlock the subscription in Work Log – Shift Tracker.
You do not have to switch to Shift Tracker, and you can continue using the original Work Log indefinitely.
I already bought Work Log Pro. Do I need to pay again for Shift Tracker?
Work Log Pro (in the original app) and the Work Log – Shift Tracker subscription are separate purchases for two separate apps.
Work Log Pro is a one-time Android purchase that unlocks features in the original Work Log app. It keeps working as long as both the original Work Log and the separate Work Log Pro app remain installed.
Work Log – Shift Tracker is the newer Android and iOS app. Its upgrade is a separate subscription, billed monthly or yearly, and appears inside the app as "Work Log Pro – Monthly" or "Work Log Pro – Yearly." The subscription supports cloud backup and synchronization, Work Log Dashboard access, and continued development of the newer app.
Even though the newer app's subscription is also labeled "Work Log Pro," it is not the same as the one-time Work Log Pro purchase in the original app. Buying one does not unlock the other.
Your original Work Log Pro purchase does not transfer into a Shift Tracker subscription. You are not required to switch apps — the original Work Log remains available, and you can continue using the purchase you already made.
How do I transfer shifts from the original Work Log to Work Log - Shift Tracker?
Transfers are supported from the original Work Log app on Android to Work Log – Shift Tracker on Android.
Before transferring:
Update both apps through Google Play.
Keep the original Work Log installed. It contains your original data.
Do not uninstall either app until you have checked the transferred information.
Do not uninstall the original Work Log until you have confirmed everything transferred correctly — it still holds your original data.
To transfer:
Open the original Work Log.
Open General Settings.
Select Transfer to New App.
If Shift Tracker is not installed, Work Log will open its Google Play page. Install it, return to the original Work Log, and select Transfer to New App again.
Wait for Shift Tracker to open and complete the import.
Check your shifts, jobs, wages, overtime settings, raises, and other important records before removing anything from your old device.
Do not create a normal backup in the original app and try to restore that backup inside Shift Tracker. Legacy backup files and the Shift Tracker cloud-backup system use different formats — use Transfer to New App instead. It is more thorough and includes your settings as well as your shifts.
If the transfer fails:
Confirm that both apps are updated.
Restart the phone and try again from the original app.
Keep both apps installed.
Include the error message, phone model, Android version, and screenshots when contacting support.
Some calculations may look different if the wage, raise, overtime, or premium-hour settings are configured differently in the new app. Verify those settings after the transfer.
How do I sync my data across devices?
Enable Cloud Backup in the app settings by signing in with your Google, Apple, or email account. Once enabled, your shift data is automatically backed up to the cloud. You can then sign in with the same account on another device or on the web dashboard to access your data. Cloud backup helps protect your records and makes them available on your other signed-in devices. Before uninstalling the app, resetting a phone, or removing an old device, verify that your latest shifts appear on the destination device or the Work Log Dashboard.
Why can't I see my shifts on the web?
The Work Log Dashboard shows and edits your cloud data from Work Log – Shift Tracker. It does not connect to the original Android Work Log app.
If your shifts do not appear:
Confirm that you are using Work Log – Shift Tracker, not the original Work Log.
In the mobile app, open Settings → Cloud Backup.
Confirm that Cloud Backup is enabled.
Confirm the exact account and sign-in method used in the app.
Sign in at worklogdashboard.com using the same account and sign-in method.
Refresh the Shifts page.
Before uninstalling the app, resetting the phone, or removing the old device, verify that your shifts are visible on the destination device or web dashboard.
If shifts remain missing, contact support with:

How do I export my shifts to PDF, Excel, or a spreadsheet?
PDF and spreadsheet exports are Premium features. They are available in Work Log – Shift Tracker and on the Work Log Dashboard.
In the mobile app:
Open View Shifts.
Select the job (if you have more than one) and the time-period tab that contains the shifts you want — for example, tap Month and go to the month you want to export.
Tap the ⋮ menu and choose Export.
Choose Export PDF or Export Spreadsheet.
For a spreadsheet, your phone's share/save screen opens so you can send or save the file (Files, Downloads, Google Drive, Gmail, or another app). For a PDF, a preview opens first with Print and Share options.
Choosing an export format does not automatically email the file. Your phone opens its normal share/save screen so you can choose the destination.
On the web:
Sign in at worklogdashboard.com using the same account as the mobile app.
Open Shifts.
Select the shifts or date range you want.
Select Export.
Choose PDF or Spreadsheet (Excel) and save the downloaded file.
Spreadsheet files may open in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or another spreadsheet application depending on the apps installed on your device. If your phone opens the wrong application, save the file first and then open it from your preferred spreadsheet app.
If a PDF from Work Log – Shift Tracker is blank, incomplete, or hard to read, open PDF Settings and try switching the PDF Orientation (portrait or landscape) or hiding columns you do not need. When contacting support, attach the exported file and a screenshot showing the shifts that should have appeared.
If you are exporting from the original Work Log app (not Shift Tracker) and the PDF is blank or cut off, open that app's PDF/export settings and set the Scale option to 1.
How do I track my shifts?
Punching in and out happens in the Work Log – Shift Tracker app. Open the Work Log app on your mobile device and tap the large "Punch In" button to start tracking a shift. When you're done working, tap "Punch Out" to end the shift. The app automatically calculates your hours worked and earnings based on your configured wage settings (wages must be configured in the Job Settings).
You can also add, edit, or delete shifts manually — either in the app, using the New Shift page and the View Shifts tab, or on the web at worklogdashboard.com. Your shifts stay in sync either way.
Can I add or edit shifts on the web?
Yes. Sign in at worklogdashboard.com with the same account you use in the app and open Shifts. Select New Shift to add one. To change a shift you already have, open the actions menu (the three dots at the end of its row) and choose Edit — or Delete to remove it. Anything you change on the web shows up in the app on your phone.
Punching in and out is still done in the app, and a shift you are currently clocked into cannot be changed on the web — punch out in the app first. Editing jobs, wages, and settings from the web is coming soon; for now, make those changes in the app.
How do I set up my hourly wage and overtime?
Open Settings, select the job you want to configure, and open its Wage or Overtime settings.
Base wage:
Enter the normal hourly rate for the job under Hourly Wage.
Use Raises if the rate changes on a specific date.
Turn on Custom Wage Rate if you want to set a specific wage on individual shifts.
Overtime:
Overtime By Shift applies after a set number of hours in one shift. It is calculated when a shift is saved and does not automatically apply to shifts you already created.
Overtime by Week/Pay Period applies after your weekly or pay-period threshold and is calculated automatically for every week or pay period for that job.
Enter the overtime pay as an hourly rate (the amount paid per overtime hour).
Use Premium Hours for scheduled differentials such as nights, weekends, or specific time ranges.
Decimal-hour examples:
8 hours 30 minutes = 8.5 hours
9 hours 15 minutes = 9.25 hours
9 hours 37 minutes = approximately 9.6167 hours
Use the most precise value the setting accepts. Rounding too early can cause a one-minute difference around the overtime threshold.
Premium Hours and overtime solve different problems: overtime applies after an hours threshold, while Premium Hours applies during selected days or times, such as Saturdays or 10:00 PM–6:00 AM.
How do I set up Premium Hours (shift differential) rates?
In the app, go to the Settings and either create a new job or edit an existing one. Open the Premium Hours section (shown in the app as "Premium Hours/Shift Differential") and turn on a Premium. Set Active Days to the day you want the special rate on, e.g. Saturday. Set the Active time from 12:01am–11:59pm. Set the Differential Type and Increase By settings to what your situation is. For example, if you get paid 1.5x on Saturday, you can set the Differential Type to Percentage and the Increase By to 50%. You can do this for any day, or for specific times such as from 6pm to 6am.
Wages and/or Overtime rates are not changing?
Check the following settings in this order:
Raises: A dated raise can override the job's normal wage and overtime rate. Confirm that every raise has the correct effective date and rates, or turn off Raises if you are not using it.
Custom wage or manual overtime: An individual shift may contain a saved Custom Wage Rate or a manually entered overtime value that overrides the automatic calculation.
Overtime type: Confirm whether the rule should apply per shift or per week/pay period.
Premium Hours: Night, weekend, or scheduled differential pay should normally be configured under Premium Hours, not as overtime.
If the total still appears incorrect, contact support with:

How Do I Sort Shifts? (Shifts are Out of Order)
Shifts can be sorted by tapping on a column title on the View Shifts screen, such as the "Date" title. Tapping on it again will reverse the sorting order.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. Your data is stored securely using Firebase, Google's enterprise-grade cloud platform. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use secure authentication through Google, Apple, or email sign-in. If you use email sign-in, your password is securely hashed and never stored in plain text. Only you (and anyone you explicitly share access with) can view your shift data.
Which devices are supported?
Work Log - Shift Tracker is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad), Android phones and tablets, and through our web dashboard at worklogdashboard.com. The mobile apps offer the full experience including punch-in widgets, notifications, and offline support. The web dashboard lets you view your shifts and generate reports from any computer.
For Employers
What are the employer plans?
Work Log Employer Dashboard has four simple tiers that all include Premium access in the app for each covered employee plus the web dashboard for the employer.
Starter – $4.99/month (up to 5 employees): For small crews or family businesses that just need everyone on Premium with one simple bill.
Team – $9.99/month (up to 15 employees): For growing teams like small restaurants, cleaning companies, and construction crews that want a clear view of everyone's hours in one place.
Crew – $15.99/month (up to 30 employees): For busy operations with multiple workers and shifts to track across a whole job site or business.
Fleet – $29.99/month (up to 60 employees): For larger businesses that want all their workers on Premium and a single dashboard to review hours across the entire company.
Visit our pricing page for current rates and features.
How do I link with my employees?
After subscribing to an employer plan, go to the Employer section in your dashboard. You can invite employees by sharing your unique employer link or entering their email addresses. Employees will receive an invitation to connect their Work Log account. Once they link their app, you'll be able to view their shift data (and add or correct shifts, if they give permission) and they'll receive premium access to the app.
What data can I see from my employees?
You can view your linked employees' shift records including punch-in/out times, total hours worked, breaks taken, and job assignments. You can filter and export reports for payroll processing or record-keeping. Employees have the option of accepting an invite to join the employer team for premium access to the app, but can optionally disable sharing their data with the employer.
With the employee's permission, you can also manage their shifts from the dashboard. Each employee controls three separate switches: whether you can edit their shifts (and which fields — Time & job, Notes, Financial, or Status), whether you can add shifts on their behalf, and whether you can delete them. All three are off by default, and the employee can turn any of them off at any time.
Can my employer edit my shifts?
Only if you allow it — all employer permissions are off by default. You control them in Work Log – Shift Tracker under your employer link settings, or on the web dashboard under Settings → Shift Permissions:
Allow Employer to Edit My Shifts — you also choose which fields: Time & job, Notes, Financial, or Status.
Allow Employer to Add My Shifts — lets them create shifts on your account.
Allow Employer to Delete My Shifts — lets them remove shifts (recoverable from backups).
Each is separate, all of them require shift sharing to be on, and you can turn any of them off at any time. Shifts changed from the dashboard show who edited them.
How do I manage my subscription?
Go to the Subscription page in your dashboard to view your current plan, billing history, and manage your subscription. You can upgrade to a higher tier, update your payment method, or view upcoming invoices. All billing is handled securely through Stripe.
What happens when I cancel my subscription?
If you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your employees will lose their premium access (though they keep all their data), and you'll no longer be able to view their shifts from the employer dashboard. You can resubscribe at any time to restore access.
What happens if an employee already has their own premium subscription?
Employees can still link with an employer even if they already have an active subscription. Having both won't cause any issues with linking or accessing features. However, since it's unnecessary to pay for two subscriptions, we're happy to offer full refunds to employees or employers in this situation. Please note that refunds are only possible for Google Play purchases—Apple does not allow developers to process refunds for in-app purchases.
Can I change my subscription tier partway through the billing cycle?
Yes. To downgrade to a lower tier:
1. Go to the Employees section at worklogdashboard.com and remove employees until you're under the new tier's limit
2. Navigate to the Subscription section and select the lower tier
You can upgrade again anytime you need more capacity. When changing tiers mid-cycle, you'll be pro-rated the cost difference—you'll receive credit for unused time on your current tier applied toward the new one.
Your employees' data and accounts are never affected by tier changes. The employer subscription simply grants them premium access and the option to share their data with you.
Do my employees need to create new accounts or migrate their data?
No. Employees can connect using their existing Work Log accounts as long as they're signed in and their data is backed up to the cloud.
One important note: employees must be using the newer Work Log - Shift Tracker app. The older version does not support cloud backups or integration with the Work Log Dashboard. If anyone on your team is still using the old app, they can download the new one from the link above.
Account & Technical
How do I sign in on the web?
Use the same Google, Apple, or email account you use in the mobile app. Click "Sign in with Google", "Sign in with Apple", or "Sign in with Email" on the web dashboard, and you'll have access to all your synced data. Make sure Cloud Backup is enabled in your mobile app for your data to appear on the web.
Why can't I edit shifts on the web?
Editing on the web needs two things to be true:
Your app has finished its first sync. Open Work Log – Shift Tracker while signed in with Cloud Backup enabled, let it sync once, then refresh the dashboard.
Your app is up to date. Older versions cannot receive edits made on the web, so the dashboard blocks the edit rather than letting it get lost. Update Work Log – Shift Tracker from the App Store or Google Play and reopen it once.
If you are an employer, the employee must also have given you permission, and their app must meet the same two requirements.
Why is my Premium subscription not active?
First, confirm which product you purchased:
Work Log Pro is the separate one-time Android purchase for the original Work Log app.
Work Log – Shift Tracker Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription for the newer app (shown in the app as "Work Log Pro – Monthly" or "Work Log Pro – Yearly").
An employer may also provide Shift Tracker Premium while your account is linked to the employer's plan.
A Work Log Pro purchase in the original app does not activate the subscription in Work Log – Shift Tracker, even though both are called "Work Log Pro."
If you purchased the Shift Tracker subscription but it is not active:
Confirm that the device is signed into the same Google Play or Apple App Store account used for the purchase.
Open Work Log – Shift Tracker and open the upgrade screen (titled "Work Log Pro").
On iPhone or iPad, tap Restore Purchases. On Android, confirm the subscription is active in Google Play, then reopen the app so it re-checks. (Restore Purchases is an Apple-only option.)
Restart the app and check again.
If an employer provides your Premium access, confirm that you are still linked to the employer and using the correct Work Log account.
If Premium still does not activate, contact support and include:
Whether you use Android or iPhone
The email address used inside Work Log
The Google Play or Apple order/receipt number
A screenshot showing the active subscription
